Video on your website (part #1, what to do)

iStock_000008853711video Video has become a huge part of online marketing but how can you take advantage of it to help your business? First of all, you don’t have to be a professional videographer with fancy equipment and you don’t have to hire one either.

Let’s start really simple with Testimonials. Get any digital video camera such as Flip Video, get your satisfied customers in front of it and actually digitally record their testimonial and put it on your website. Video Testimonials are much more interesting, more believable and are a lot easier than reading for your visitors.

Overall, using video on your website can help build trust while also making it easier and more interesting for your visitors than just reading text. Plus, videos are easily forwarded to friends or posted on video sites. Give your visitors a Video Tour of your facility or record actual people using your products. Record your next event to show your visitors what they can expect when they hire you. Are you informing or training your visitors? A video recording of you actually telling or showing them something will go over much better than just having them read pages and pages of text.

The video itself can be as simple or as fancy as you like. The Flip Video even comes with its own easy to use editing software to help make you look like a professional. You can even use Windows Movie Maker which comes with most PC’s to do some simple editing that looks great.

Now, before you go out and load up your website with videos, you’ll definitely want to check back next week for what NOT to do when using video on your website or blog.
