Are You Listening To Me?
I’m sure you’ve all heard that question while growing up but, have you heard that question in terms of your business? I’ve always been told that God gave us two ears and only one mouth because we should listen twice as much as we speak. Being a good listener is absolutely necessary if you’d like to have a successful business.
Okay, so who do you listen to? Should you listen to that expensive wiz-bang marketing firm you just hired that is promising you everything you ever wanted? Should you listen to your “friends” who always claim to know everything about whatever problem you’re having?
Should you listen to me? Well, not exactly…
You should listen to the most important person to your business, your customers. That’s right, talk to them, no, scratch that, talk WITH them and don’t just hear what they have to say and discard it, really LISTEN to them. There is a big difference between hearing and listening. Now you’re probably saying, “what the heck do my customers know about my business?”. Well, to be honest, most likely nothing. But, they do know two extremely important things that you may not know and they are:
1- Why they picked you over your competitor
2- Why they continue to stay with you
Believe it or not, your customers really do know what they want and apparently you must have given it to them or they wouldn’t be there to begin with. Now, your part is to find out exactly what that something is so you can not only keep them but you can use it to attract more just like them.
Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? Well, it is, and it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg for an “expert” to try to tell you what your customers want. You can easily do it yourself.
Check back here next week for part 2 of this article to find out exactly what you need to know, who you need to talk to and of course, how to do it or better yet Subscribe to this blog and be alerted in your email whenever there is a new article.
Until next time,
